Triple-threat performing artist Laura Benanti will showcase her remarkable talent in a night of Broadway music

In her first-ever performance at BYU, Laura Benanti will take the de Jong Concert Hall stage as she brings in an evening filled with your favorite beloved Broadway musical selections.  

Benanti was just 18 years old when she made her Broadway debut in 1998 as Maria Rainer in “The Sound of Music.” Since then, her career has been filled with leading roles and diverse characters. In 2014, New York Magazine wrote, “Laura Benanti scores: a fine singer and dancer as well as a skilled actress.”

Benanti has starred as Cinderella in “Into the Woods,” Amalia Balash in “She Loves Me,” a performer in “Swing” and Candela in “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”. Each of these roles have earned her Tony Award nominations, but it was her phenomenal performance as Gypsy Rose Lee in “Gypsy” that earned her the Best Featured Actress in a Musical award.

In 2013, Benanti released her debut album, “In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention: Live at 54 Below,” on Broadway Records and received ecstatic reviews. In a review of her album, Next Magazine said, “Gorgeous, talented and funny, Laura Benanti can do no wrong . . . Blessed with a stunning voice of exquisite tone and technique, Benanti can sing everything—and does on this sensational recording . . . Whether channeling a Broadway ingénue or strumming a ukulele, Benanti is utterly divine.”

Most recently, Benanti has received critical acclaim for her performance in Steve Martin’s hit Broadway play “Meteor Shower” alongside Amy Schumer and Keegan-Michael Key. She also currently stars as Edie in the TBS hit, “The Detour.” The show was recently renewed for a fourth season.

Seth Rudetsky is the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway as well as the host of Seth Speaks on SiriusXM Stars. He has played piano for more than a dozen Broadway shows, including Ragtime, Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera, among many others.

Join Tony Award-winner/brand new mom Laura Benanti and her mother Linda Benanti on a musical journey through the special relationship between a mother and daughter.

Touching and humorous, the return engagement of this Feinstein’s/54 Below show promises to be a one of the kind event!

Linda Benanti, an accomplished actress and singer who performed on Broadway, off Broadway and regionally, gave birth to Laura Benanti in 1979. In order to dedicate more time to being a hands on mother, Linda transitioned out of performing and has been a highly sought after voice teacher with a flourishing studio in Kinnelon, NJ for the past 35 years. Linda’s last professional performance was in the 1981 revival of BrigadoonThe Story Goes On will mark Linda’s return to the stage. Linda is devoted to her husband, Sal Benanti and daughters Laura and Marielle. Linda is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

Laura Benanti is a Tony Award Winning actress who began her Broadway career at the age of 18, starring opposite Richard Chamberlain in The Sound of Music. Since then, Laura has appeared in 9 Broadway shows (including Gypsy and She Loves Me), been nominated for 5 Tony Awards, and continues to having a flourishing television career (Nashville, Supergirl, The Good Wife). Laura began studying voice with her mother as a young child, and is absolutely THRILLED that she has agreed to return to the stage in this musical celebration of family. At the time of the concert Laura will be a brand new mother to a eight month old daughter.

Mayo Performing Arts Center’s 18th Annual Starlight Ball

 Get set for a great night “On the Town” as Mayo Performing Arts Center holds its 18th annual Starlight Ball Gala on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the Hilton Short Hills. 

The Starlight Ball is MPAC’s largest fundraising event of the year. Morristown Medical Center will be the honored guest during this evening of elegance and entertainment reflecting a night out in Old Manhattan. The gala will feature a performance by Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti, as well as MPAC’s Teen Performing Arts Company. 

“The Starlight Ball is an opportunity for the Mayo Performing Arts Center to honor our most outstanding supporters and partners such as Morristown Medical Center, and to shine a spotlight on the breadth of our education programs,” said Allison Larena, President and CEO of MPAC. “This fundraiser brings the community together to celebrate MPAC’s vital role as one of the state’s most innovative arts institutions.” 

The Starlight Ball features an exciting array of silent auction items, dinner, and dancing to the Tom Costello Orchestra. Guests are also treated to a performance by MPAC’s Performing Arts Company, comprised of two dozen talented aspiring artists between the ages of 12-18.
