Mark Cortale’s Broadway @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts series showcases some of Broadway’s brightest stars in the Center’s intimate Virginia G. Piper Theater. Hosted by multi-talented pianist and comedian Seth Rudetsky, these cabaret-style concerts mix popular song with candid showbiz stories. 

Actress and singer Laura Benanti has earned rave reviews for her performances spanning stage and screen. She began her Broadway career at age 18, starring opposite Richard Chamberlain as Maria in The Sound of Music. Since then, she has appeared in nine Broadway shows, including Swing!Wonderful Town and She Loves Me, and has been nominated five times for a Tony Award. She won a Tony for “Best Featured Actress in a Musical,” a Drama Desk Award for “Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical” and an Outer Critics Circle Award for “Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical” for her performance as Louise in the 2008 revival of Gypsy, opposite Patti LuPone. Recently she has appeared on television in Nashville, Supergirl and The Good Wife. Benanti is also a frequent guest on Late Night with Stephen Colbert, appearing as First Lady Melania Trump. 

Seth Rudetsky is the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway as well as the host of Seth Speaks on SiriusXM Stars. He has played piano for more than a dozen Broadway shows, including Ragtime, Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera, among many others.
